About your new flag

Caring for your flag

1) Do not store the flag if it is wet, allow it to dry fully.

2) Check your flag for signs of wear or damage on a regular basis, and have it repaired the at the first sign of damage.

3) If your flag is dirty you can hand wash it in cold water with a mild soap solution. Do not dry clean or machine wash. Allow it to air dry or tumble dry cool.

4) Do not allow the flag to whip against rough surfaces, branches, wires, trees, cables, or anything that it can snag on. Keep the pole clean and avoid any sharp or rough edges.

5) To achieve maximum life for your flag, do not expose to freezing rain, heavy snow or abnormally high winds.  These elements can prematurely shorten a flags life.

How long should a flag last?

For a longer life, the first suggestion would be to bring your flag in at night, as this would double the life expectancy of the flag.  Generally our customers tell us that our flags last about a season - if you want your flags looking good while they are being displayed! Keep in mind that the larger the flag, or for double sided flags, they sustain more stress and are more susceptible to the elements and therefore don't last as long as a standard size flag on a knit fabric. Ideally if you are flying flags in an open, windy area you should be flying one of our knit flags, like the DuraKnit III, where the weave of the fabric lets the wind flow through the fibers taking some of the stress off the flag as well as having a great dye retention. Due to extreme weather conditions throughout the country we cannot guarantee longevity. Some customers will have a season out of their flag and others will have years out of their flag depending on the flying/hanging location.
